By partnering with certified manufacturing mills and supporting compliant specification across roofing and cladding applications, UniCote® promotes durability, recyclability and verified environmental performance.
Certified Environmental Recognition
For projects requiring verified environmental recognition:

- Assessed under the Global GreenTag International Product Certification Standard
For applicable product lines, UniCote® steel is also supported by:
- A certified product specific Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
Under the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) Responsible Products Framework, the combination of a certified EPD and GreenRate Level A certification equates to a Responsible Product Value (RPV) of 15 using the GBCA Responsible Products Score methodology.
An RPV of 15 is classified as Best Practice within the Responsible Products Framework and may contribute toward Responsible Products credits under Green Star Buildings, Interiors and Performance tools.
Project teams should refer to current GBCA technical guidance to confirm contribution pathways for individual projects.
Supporting NCC Energy Efficiency Outcomes
UniCote® steel roofing colours are developed using cool pigment technology to support improved thermal performance and assist compliance with the National Construction Code (NCC).
Within the UniCote® Essential range, 14 cooler roofing colours feature Solar Absorptance (SA) ≤ 0.64.
By reducing solar heat absorption at the roof surface, these colours may assist in:
- Improving internal thermal comfort
- Reducing peak roof temperatures
- Supporting reduced reliance on mechanical cooling
- Lowering operational energy demand
When specified as part of a compliant roofing system incorporating appropriate insulation and ventilation design, UniCote® steel may contribute to achieving NCC energy efficiency compliance outcomes.

UniCote® steel is manufactured to meet relevant Australian Standards, supporting compliance under the NCC.
Applicable standards include AS 1397, AS/NZS 2728, AS 1530.3 and AS 4020.
UniCote® steel is deemed Non-Combustible and may be specified in bushfire-prone areas up to BAL–40 subject to compliant system design.
UniCote® steel is manufactured by Dongkuk CM and Pacific Coilcoaters, operating certified management systems including ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 50001.
Through structured environmental management, emissions monitoring and resource efficiency initiatives, responsible manufacturing practices support long-term performance and environmental stewardship.

Product Stewardship Policy
Selection Steel is committed to responsible life-cycle management of the steel products we supply, including UniCote®. As steel is 100% recyclable, we work with our rollforming and manufacturing partners to encourage the recycling of all steel roofing and walling products at the end of their service life.
