UniCote® is a baked on paint system which has different weathering characteristics to standard air-drying paints. Do not use touch-up paint on UniCote® products. Any minor scratches not visible within 2m should be left alone as they will generally not affect the performance of the steel.
All pre-painted metal roofing and cladding products are exposed to the harsh effects of the environment, such as weather, airborne pollutants, and salt spray. Regular maintenance of UniCote® pre-painted products will increase durability and is a requirement of your warranty. See our minimum maintenance schedule for more details.
Standing up to the harsh Australian environment is no easy task, so we make sure that UniCote® is tested to the rigorous Australian Standards AS/NZ 2728 to ensure that your roof will last for years to come.
There are many benefits of a steel roof including improved security, water collection and better storm resistance (leaking) to name a few. To see a full comparison, see the Steel Vs Tiles comparison.

UniCote® Coastal takes our standard zinc/aluminium alloy-coated steel substrate to the next level with the addition of magnesium. This enables the zinc to ‘flow’, which seals the cut edges, prolonging service life. With a substantial 210gms/m2 of coating, this makes it ideal for harsher environments and those near breaking surf. With such strong protection against corrosion, we can offer best-in-class warranties.
UniCote® is pre-painted steel made with a hot-dipped aluminium/zinc alloy-coated steel substrate for corrosion resistance. The outer layer is a polyester topcoat, using the latest infrared reflective pigments, baked on to a polyester primer. The result is an extremely durable paint system built to resist UV damage from Australia’s harsh sun, providing excellent colour retention and gloss retention.
UniCote® LUX is a luxury pre-painted patterned steel product designed to suit high-end Australian architecture. Combining the world’s best coil coating technology with rigorous Australian standards testing, it provides superior performance and stunning aesthetics that go beyond most building materials. Available in a number of patterns including Timbers, Cortens, Natural Zincs and several other patterns.
